MELAKA: There is no water crisis in Melaka, says state Public Works, Transportation and Public Amenities Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Sofi Abdul Wahab.
However, he acknowledged that many high-rise residential areas are currently facing low water pressure due to the drop of water levels at the dams in Durian Tunggal and Jus.
“We have reinforcements from water concessionaires from Johor, Negri Sembilan, Perak, Selangor, Penang and Terengganu, ” he said here on Tuesday . “We are channelling 40 million litres of water from Sungai Gersik, Muar, Johor and an additional 12 million litres from Negri Sembilan. Mohd Sofi said there was a shortage of 50 million litres of water due to deteriorating levels at both dams but the state can manage with the help of neighbouring states.
