Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says if Australia is going to invest in forms of power that have low emissions, there is “no better alternative” to coal than nuclear energy.
“It has those zero emissions, but quite importantly, it can keep the lights on – it can stay there all the time,” Mr Canavan told Sky News Australia.
“That’s what we need right now in our system – we need power that works full-time, not part-time like renewable energy.”
