Netflix sees 'Stranger Things' as a major investment, and the show's success could very well determine the company's future.
The fourth season finale of the hit retro sci-fi thriller debuted last week, and it quickly became the platform's most popular English-language original series ever — garnering more than one billion hours of views in less than a month.
The series is so influential that featured songs from the decade, like Kate Bush's"Running Up That Hill," skyrocketed back to the top of the Billboard charts almost four decades after they were originally released. The streaming platform has always seen"Stranger Things" as a major investment, and as the company reported its first subscriber loss in over a decade earlier this year, the success of the series could very well determine the success of the company itself.
