Ebuka NwankwoA few weeks ago, the National Coordinator of Nigeria First Project, Jonah Bonet, asked the National Assembly to introduce a bill that would constitutionally acknowledge the office of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, First Ladies of States and Local Government Councils.
There is no doubt that First Ladies in Nigeria have impacted the lives of Nigerians through their pet projects and advocacy. One of Nigeria’s Central Bank’s Report highlighted the significant impact Maryam Babangida’s Better Life Program had on food prices and rural development in the 90’s.
Madam Soludo shows clearly that a First Lady can play a very pivotal role in terms of value reorientation and shaping the mentality of society. In terms of impact, the case is similar with Nigeria’s first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. As a former wife of a state governor and a former senator, she comes with a lot of experience.
