It's safe to say Hana Burzalová wasn't expecting to see her partner waiting on one knee at the finish of the 35-kilometre walk in Budapest, ready to pop the question.
As the Slovakian race walker crossed the finish line of the women's 35-kilometre race at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Burzalová was greeted by her partner, Dominik Černý.
Černý, who had finished the men's 35km walk about an hour earlier, dropped to one knee and asked Burzalová to marry him.Burzalová, whose jaw dropped as she crossed the line, was overcome with emotion before saying yes."We have been together for almost one Olympic cycle, almost four years, so I think it was the right time.Even as she approached the line and saw Černý waiting on his knee, Burzalová made sure to stop her watch before he popped the question.
Earlier, Černý had clocked 2:32:56, which is his personal best and was good enough for a 19th-placed finish. After he slipped the ring on Burzalova's finger, Černý scooped her up and carried her off the course.
