Northwest Alabama has a slight risk, or Level 2 out of 5, which means scattered severe storms will be possible. The rest of north Alabama, and a slice of the state from the northeast to the southwest part of the state, will have a marginal risk.The main risk with any stronger storm is damaging winds, but a tornado or two will also be possible, especially in the northwest part of the state, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters said a cold front will attempt to move closer to Alabama on Tuesday, and that could set off a few stronger storms in the north part of the state, especially on Tuesday afternoon into the evening hours. The weather service the threat for flooding will increase Tuesday afternoon, and heavy rainfall could last through Wednesday.The greatest flooding risk appears to be across northeast Alabama, the weather service said.
