Speaking to MSPs in the Scottish parliament's debating chamber, she said , 'I have spoken before of my deep and abiding affection for this wonderful country, and of the many happy memories Prince Philip and I always held of our time here.' The Queen had previously shared a photo of herself and Prince Philip sitting together in a beauty spot in the Coyles of Muick in Aberdeenshire, a 30-minute drive from the Queen's Scottish residence Balmoral.
Earlier on in her speech, the Queen said: 'The beginning of a new session is a time for renewal and fresh thinking, providing an opportunity to look to the future and our future generations.
