It’s one of the best weeks of the year in Northeast Florida - THE PLAYERS Championship week is here.
Jared Rice, Executive Director for the tournament, says one of the themes for this year’s event will be returning to The Players that we all know and love.
“Kind of restarting that cadence of fun and engaging ways to come out and see the best players in the world” Rice said during an extended interview with WOKV’s Steven Ponson.Some of that includes having themed days back like Military Appreciation Day with a concert and having 15 locally-owned restaurants on site.
Another thing you can expect is contactless payments for food and merchandise. This year’s purse is $20 million and $3.6 million will go to the winner.Tuesday is the Military Appreciation Day ceremony and concert on the famed 17th hole. Kelsea Ballerini, a two-time GRAMMY Award-nominated multi-platinum songwriter, producer and ACM Female Vocalist of the Year nominee will highlight the tournament’s Military Appreciation Day Concert.Wednesday’s charity of the day is Florida School for the Deaf and Blind.Friday’s charity of the day is First Tee.Sunday’s charity of the day is Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Florida.
