This vintage dealer is certified by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
When Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen decided to offer an exquisite smattering of vintage clothing alongside their typically minimalist spring collection on The Row’s e-commerce site in January of this year, there was only one woman they trusted to co-curate it: Marie Blanchet.
French-born, raven-haired and loquacious, the Vestiaire Collective and William Vintage alum is a vintage hunter par excellence. Having launched her own company, Mon Vintage, in November 2020, she almost immediately set about sourcing past-decade exemplars from Chanel, Comme des Garçons and Issey Miyake in collaboration with Mary-Kate Olsen. Now, she’s got Paris in her sights.
It perhaps won’t surprise readers to know that Blanchet spent lockdown floating around in an ’80s-era Sonia Rykiel black marabou cardigan-coat. But if you’re hesitant to dip your toe in vintage waters, she offers sage advice. One: it’s okay to mix decades as well as vintage pieces with current-day items. “This is not about being retro,” she cautions. Two: it’s okay to get things tailored.
