Most of this oil is transported from the major world suppliers — Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iran and Iraq — and goes through the narrow Straits of Hormuz in the southern part of Iran before entering the Indian Ocean and onwards to their destinations halfway around the globe., whichever country or countries, in control of the world and wholly dependent on oil supply from the Middle East, will not spare any effort to defend the security of that oil route.

The Iranian Revolution in 1979 brought power to the ayatollahs, and was followed by the Iran Iraq War in 1980-1988 and the occupation of other areas of the region outside of Iran by the Americans. This was achieved by working through military interventions and installations of governments friendly to it. The Americans disrupted the money trail used by IS to control the oil fields where it was in full strength in northern Iraq and northern Syria., the situation has gone from bad to worse since the election of Donald Trump as US president in 2016.
