A new casting call for The Nun 2 possibly reveal story details for the horror sequel, including the return of a key character from the first film. The 2018 film served as both a spinoff and prequel to The Conjuring 2 exploring the origins of the demon Valak as it took the form of a terrifying nun that would eventually torment Ed and Lorraine Warren.
Taissa Farmiga led the cast of The Nun alongside Demián Bichir, Jonas Bloquet, Bonnie Aarons as Valak, Charlotte Hope, Ingrid Bisu, Sandra Teles, Manuela Ciucur, Ani Sava, Maria Obretin and Gabrielle Downey.
The Nun 2 story details do offer some interesting insight into the nature of the Conjuring spinoff's sequel, but may also raise some questions in regards to the franchise's timeline. The Nun notably ended with Jonas Bloquet's Frenchie having become possessed by Valak moments after it was seemingly defeated and banished back to Hell by Irene with the blood of Christ, with an inverted crucifix appearing on the back of his neck as he, Irene and Father Burke rode away from the monastery.
Given the end of the first film seemingly tied the story all together, The Nun 2's story details teasing that Taissa Farmiga's Irene is returning to face Valak once again may leave some wondering how franchise head James Wan will continue to bridge the two narratives.
