While only 5 percent of nations are currently helmed by a woman, the top 4 spots on Forbes’ 2019 list ofall went to female political leaders, highlighting the outsize influence they command on the world stage. Collectively, these women oversee $54 trillion in GDP and more than 3.5 billion people.
While not every political leader on this list is a head of state, many are wielding their power at unprecedented scale., a returnee to the list, is the highest-ranking female leader in the US and as Speaker of the House she’s a central figure in the ongoing impeachment proceedings against President Trump.
