“Graph computing is an advanced field that deals with the processing and analysis of data depicted as graphs,” says Hongyang Chen, deputy director of Zhejiang Lab’s Graph Computing Research Center. “A graph, in this context, is a collection of nodes—entities—and edges—relationships.” Instead of working with a traditional spreadsheet, graphcomputing uses complex networks that help reveal relationships within datasets that might remain hidden. By creating a “web” of interconnected nodes, users can gain a multidimensional perspective on the data.That approach can help scientists search for patterns that Chen says “might be obscured in traditional data representations.
