The coolest and most sinister Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse variant was cut from the movie. Whereas Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse saw a few Spider-People from across the multiverse visit Miles Molares’ Earth, Across the Spider-Verse followed Miles as he discovered the Spider-Society and the secrets of the Spider Society. As a result, Across the Spider-Verse featured many more universes and versions of Spider-Man than the first movie.
Naturally, not every Across the Spider-Verse Spider-Man variant was an actual character with lines. Many of those Spider-People only appeared in blink-or-miss scenes, which only added to the experience of the movie. With that many Spider-Man versions, all of which represent something in Spider-Man’s history, involved in the film, some cool ideas would of course not make it to the movie.

The character art sees a zombie Peter Parker with torn clothes, a spider hanging on him, and a rotten mouth popping out of the Spider-Man mask.
Seeing zombie versions of the Avengers was shocking, but zombie Spider-Man was particularly disturbing. All of the Marvel heroes were still aware of who they were and who they used to be, yet this virus forced them to eat brains. In Marvel Zombies, Peter Parker killed and eat the brains of Mary Jane and Aunt May in what was one of the darkest Marvel stories ever told. Interestingly, the MCU adapted Marvel Zombies in What If…? season 1, yet Peter Parker was still a hero and not a zombie.
Across The Spider-Verse Cut A Lot Of Spider-Man Variants Zombie Spider-Man was not the only Spider-Man variant cut from Across the Spider-Verse, as seen in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: The Art Of The Movie. With 60 years of Spider-Man history across all sorts of media to pull from, Across the Spider-Verse had an almost unlimited amount of Spider-Man lore to incorporate into the film.
