The X-Men movie timeline, over two decades and almost a dozen releases, told the battle between mutants and those who wish to destroy, charting from the very early days of humanity to multiple possible annihilations. To make it even grander, this takes place over multiple diverging timelines, and is set to grow yet more detailed as the plot of Deadpool & Wolverine combines the Fox and MCU movie timeline together.
The New X-Men Movie Timeline Made By Days Of Future Past The Second X-Men Movie Timeline Runs From 1962 To 2023 X-Men: Days of Future Past saw the X-Men successfully rewrite history by preventing the assassination of Bolivar Trask. They created a whole new timeline, one that current movies have continued. For the sake of completeness, this timeline includes X-Men: First Class, the 1973 sections of X-Men: Days of Future Past, as well as all of X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix.
A flashback sequence sees Deadpool travel to the main MCU timeline early in the movie, with Wade entering the universe to ask about joining the Avengers in 2018. This sequence seemingly follows on right from the ending of Deadpool 2, as Wade uses Cable's time travel device to journey over to Earth-616.
Problems With The X-Men Movie Timeline The X-Men Movie Timeline Isn't Without Its Issues Close Viewed from a distance, the X-Men films' continuity just about works; but the devil, as they say, is in the details. X-Men: First Class is intended to be part of both timelines, and yet it contradicts the original X-Men trilogy in several details, including the origin of Cerebro, Xavier's historic relationship with Mystique, and his early experience of Magneto's psychic-blocking helmet.
*Availability in US X-Men: The Last Stand is the third and final installment in Bryan Singer's original X-Men trilogy. It adapts Marvel's famous "Dark Phoenix" storyline, with Famke Janssen's Jean Grey embracing her supernatural power to unleash chaos on mutantkind.
