The Buccaneers' 2022 season is over... even though they're still leading their division. GoBucs
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are dead men walking. They have their coaching staff to thank for that.
The Buccaneers were lucky to win their Week 9 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. It took a defensive stand to give quarterbackthe ball back with 44 seconds left, at which point he drove the team 60 yards in 35 seconds for the game-winning touchdown. The Buccaneers’ offense managed only 16 points in the game. Moreover, they consistently found themselves in third or fourth down, converting nine of a whopping 23 opportunities.
What makes Tampa Bay’s offensive approach more frustrating is that it flies in the face of what has worked for them this season. Tampa Bay ranks seventh in dropback success rate and 11th in dropback expected points added this season. They rank 29th in rushing success rate and 32nd in rushing expected points added. The skeletal outline of a good NFL offense is there. The coaching staff just refuses to lean into the approach that would allow it to exist.
