No one thought The Boys would go out before its time. They’ve created a literal monster in Homelander for goodness sake, and that guy is not easy to kill. Just ask every other character on the show. Still, we’re not sure even Mesmer foresaw that the show would get its fifth season renewal before season four even premiered. The news was announced today at Amazon ’s upfront presentation of their upcoming slate. “ The Boys could be the best job I’ll ever have.
In this way, The Boys could conceivably go on, and on, and on. That would definitely be to the detriment of its actual storyline though; Butcher and Homelander can’t keep stalemating forever. At some point, someone has to win. Butcher is clever and tough-as-nails, but Homelander is an atomic bomb in the shape of a human. Eventually, it won’t be believable for him to lose. We’ll see how everything shakes out next season.
