From wide-leg to tailored, linen trousers have had a chic makeover
Breezy, crisp and cooling, linen trousers are a timeless summer look. But we'll be the first to admit that they're one of the more intimidating trends out there.
The good news is, they're no longer reserved for the perfectly coiffed woman wearing head-to-toe white. Designers have branched out from '80s yuppie looks and '90s minimalism to bring us something altogether more versatile. So, yes, linen can really be anything you want it to be: earthy, boho, polished, boyish or glamorous. It's all down to the cut and shape of your trousers. Take the, for instance, which can look louche and elegant or downright relaxed – depending on whether you choose a structured, belted, elasticated or drawstring waistband.
Then there's the smarter cigarette or tapered leg, which is ideal for the office or pairing with a suit jacket at weddings. Or, cropped styles are great if you're looking for something more practical to replace casual summer skirts. Finally, while we can appreciate the easy iron appeal of a synthetic blend, we've made sure every pair in this edit is 100% linen.
