In 'The Assistant,' Julia Garner stars as Jane, the target of an unnamed, but very familiar predatory Hollywood producer
A new film centers its story on ‘one day through the eyes of the youngest person on the desk of a predatory executive’Assistants are usually at the bottom of the Hollywood food chain. But in “The Assistant,” director Kitty Green makes one the star of her #MeToo drama.
The movie follows Jane , the target of an unnamed, but very familiar predatory Hollywood producer. Unlike other projects with similar themes—the Fox News-inspired “Bombshell” and the AppleTV+ news drama, “The Morning Show,” which focus on the glossy stars of those worlds—“The Assistant” homes in on the mundane.
