Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith starring in a ficticious sequel to the 1997 film “G.I. It was hard to tell if the moment was a scripted gag, but shortly after the hit, the audio in the broadcast cut out as Rock and Smith had a testy moment.
Buzzfeed News reporter David Mack, who is based in Australia, saw an uncensored version that included the full exchange between Smith and Rock. He shared anSmith, back at his seat, screamed twice for Rock to “keep my wife’s name out of your f—king mouth.” The look on Smith’s face, not seen in the American broadcast, implies that he’s not joking around. Rock replied incredulously that it was just a G.I.
A few minutes later, Will Smith received the Oscar for best actor for his role in “King Richard.” In his acceptance speech, he began by stating that Richard Williams was a fierce defender of his family, then went on to discuss his outburst earlier in the show.
