The 105-carat Kohinoor diamond will be absent from King Charles III's coronation ceremony.
The diamond, first discovered in southern India about 800 years ago, has somewhat of a contentious history, according to reports from British news sources.It spent years inside a golden statue located inside a Hindu temple before being passed down through Mughal, Persian, Afghan and Sikh empires. Queen Victoria acquired it in the 19th century, and since then it has only been worn by women monarchs.
