"Preliminary information leads investigators to believe that the 13-year-old male who fired the weapon accidently shot the 5-year-old victim. The 13-year-old male was arrested and is currently at Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center. This incident remains under investigation by the Brooklyn Park Police Department."In a description of the shooting posted online, Brooklyn Park Police wrote that at 10:21 p.m. on Thursday they were dispatched to a shooting at a residence.
The 13-year-old boy who has been taken into custody could reportedly face manslaughter charges. The owner of the firearm could also be charged as well."We as adults, it's our obligation to make sure [kids] don't have access to them," he said, according to the station., police said they believed a teenager who was playing with a gun in Connecticut accidentally shot and killed a 16-year-old boy.
