Thailand Surpasses Tourism Goals, Welcomes Over 35 Million Visitors in 2024

Thailand achieved its target of attracting 35 million foreign tourists in 2024, exceeding its goal with a significant number of visitors. The country generated a substantial tourism revenue of THB1.8 trillion.

Previously, we shared how Thailand recorded an impressive RM195.6 billion in the first 11 months of the year, thanks to 32,020,169 foreign tourists who visited the country during the period. Now, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced an update to the figure and proudly revealed that it has reached its target of welcoming at least 35 million foreign tourists into the Kingdom in 2024. Thailand welcomed over 35 million international tourists in 2024, 7 million more than last year.

In a press release, TAT revealed that Thailand welcomed a whopping 35,047,501 foreign tourists from 1 January to 27 December 2024, surpassing its target of 35 million international tourists this year with 4 days left to spare. Moreover, TAT also announced that the country generated a staggering THB1.8 TRILLION or approximately RM234.6 BILLION in tourism revenue during the same period. For context, Thailand recorded 28.09 million foreign tourists in 2023, with Malaysians topping the charts as the highest number of foreign visitors with over 4.6 million. Thailand’s various initiatives to attract foreign tourists have been successful. Thapanee Kiatphaibool TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool credited this remarkable achievement to strategic Thai Government initiatives that enhanced the country’s appeal as a world-class destination. She attributed the achievement to key policies such as the visa exemption for citizens of 93 countries, allowing stays of up to 60 days and the elimination of T.M. 6 immigration forms at 16 key border crossings, streamlining entry processes.
