BANGKOK (Xinhua): Food banks across the streets in major cities and communities in Thailand have become a new fad amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The community pantries were set up by anonymous philanthropic people, who want to help their fellow Thais get access to food and essential items.

Taweeporn said she had bought five boxes of instant noodles from a hypermarket and wanted to share her food items with those who have lost their jobs during the Covid-19 outbreak. "I am so grateful to the Thai people who can understand the sufferings of those who have been left unemployed after the closure of their workplace," said Aireen,"the fact that I know there will always be food available in the pantry, reduces the pain of unemployment and hopelessness."
