The highest level in five months.

The index has been improving for two consecutive months after the easing of restriction measures, according to the survey result released by the Center for Economic and Business Forecasting at the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce .

The improvement of the country's Covid-19 situation, rising vaccination rates, the government's economic stimulus measures and plan to reopen borders to fully-vaccinated visitors from selected countries and regions beginning November also helped bolster the consumer confidence, according to the UTCC.

It expected the South-East Asian country's economy to gradually recover in the last quarter of this year and expand by 1-1.5 per cent this year compared to one year earlier. Battered by the pandemic, Thailand's gross domestic product shrank by 6.1 per cent in 2020, its worst performance in more than two decades.

On Thursday, Thailand recorded 7,982 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 68 more deaths in the pandemic, taking the total number of coronavirus infections in the country to more than 1.94 million and that of fatalities to 19,462, according to the Ministry of Public Health.
