Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) introduces double protection coverage for its TH Khairat takaful program, allowing depositors to register two certificates per appointed takaful operator. This enhancement provides up to RM48,000 in coverage and doubles the benefit amount for death during Hajj.
Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) is expanding its TH Khairat takaful protection program, offering depositors the opportunity to register for double coverage up to RM48,000. Starting February 21, 2025, depositors can enroll in two protection certificates with each appointed takaful operator, either Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Keluarga Berhad (STMKB) or Hong Leong MSIG Takaful (HLMT), allowing for a maximum of four certificates.
Previously, depositors were limited to registering one certificate per operator. The annual subscription fee remains at RM28 per certificate, providing RM12,000 in coverage in case of death or permanent and total disability. Beneficiaries can claim up to RM48,000 if the depositor holds four certificates. In addition, TH announced that pilgrims with TH Khairat certificates will receive double the original benefit amount, from RM12,000 to RM24,000, in case of death during the Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca, without any additional charges. This enhancement takes effect from this year. TH Executive Director of Operations, Mohamed Ameen Abdul Wahab, stated that this initiative aligns with TH's commitment to continuously improving service quality and adding value to depositors.He emphasized that through the collaboration with STMKB and HLMT, depositors can now register for two protection certificates with each operator. In the tragic event of a depositor's death during the Hajj, beneficiaries can claim up to RM96,000 if they hold all four certificates. Registration is easily accessible through the THiJARI mobile application, and depositors can visit nearby branches for further clarification and assistance from TH personnel. Mohamed Ameen strongly encourages all depositors, particularly those planning to perform Hajj this year, to register for TH Khairat as part of their pre-Hajj preparations due to the doubled benefits offered in case of unforeseen circumstances during the pilgrimage in Mecca. TH Khairat has received an overwhelming response since its launch in July 2023, recording nearly 580,000 registrations. Through this program, TH has assisted 375 beneficiaries by paying out claims exceeding RM4.5 million, demonstrating TH's dedication, along with its takaful operator partners, to promptly resolve claims through this affordable takaful protection. He further stated that TH remains committed to providing the best service by enhancing existing services and introducing new initiatives that benefit depositors in the future
