Texas State baseball opens NCAA regional with win against UC Santa Barbara

Peyton Lewis and Ben McClain homered to spur Texas State’s offense, supporting a quality start from Zeke Wood and a strong relief effort by Austin Smith. Texas State erupted for four runs in the fourth inning. After Justin Thompson singled and Wesley Faison walked, Daylan Pena hit an RBI double and Lewis cleared the bases with a three-run homer.
Texas State tacked on an insurance run in the seventh when Lewis walked with the bases loaded. Santa Barbara escaped the one-out jam without further damage but never found a rally.
