With eyes on a Big 12 title, the Longhorns enter the week in a three-way tie for second...

Freshman forward Dillon Mitchell came up big for Texas in its first meeting with Oklahoma State, totaling a game-high 12 rebounds along with six points and three steals.AUSTIN — The overall talent level of the Big 12 is daunting enough. On top of that, everyone plays a double round-robin schedule, meaning it’s not enough to put a team down just once.

“It’s really difficult to sweep teams,” fifth-year UT forward Christian Bishop said Monday. “Obviously, that’s the goal. We've gotta protect the crib, just come out and do what we do. It’ll be difficult with a team like OSU. They’re really good at defense. They’re really well-coached. They've got good players on their team. So we just have to come out and match their energy.”Oklahoma State leads the Big 12 in opponent field-goal percentage and blocked shots .

“They’ve been playing really well,” Texas graduate guard Marcus Carr said Monday. “They’re feeling good coming off those last couple of games. But we just have to follow our game plan and do what the coaches are telling us and try to take away what they do well.” Texas could really use Mitchell’s activity on both ends against Oklahoma State. He tallied six points with a game-high 12 rebounds and three steals in the first meeting, after which interim coach Rodney Terry commended him for playing “with an incredible motor on both ends of the floor.”
