Texas House OKs bill requiring websites to shield teens from harmful content

Tech companies and industry groups say the legislation would do nothing to fix those problems, while imposing vague, subjective new rules they couldn't realistically follow. The measure will likely receive final approval from the House tomorrow, after which it will head to the Senate. HB 18 would also require providers to give parents sweeping abilities to control and monitor how their children use the service, and to receive parental consent before collecting data from a minor.
