Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s lead over Democrat Beto O’Rourke has plummeted since December, a new poll released by Quinnipiac University shows.
Most other polls released over the last six months have shown Abbott with an overall lead of between 7 percentage points to 11 percentage points.
The new poll also showed President Joe Biden do very poorly with Texas voters. Just 33 percent said they approved of how Biden was doing his job versus 61 percent who disapproved. More specifically, 93 percent of voters supported requiring background checks for all gun buyers and 73 percent supported raising the age to buy a gun from 18 to 21 years old.
