Miriam Rios was found unconscious after the tornado, packing winds of 165 mph, tore through the area.
The child’s mother, Vanessa Rios, suffered a miscarriage, according to the television station. Her husband, Joel Rios, was thrown to one side of the home.. She was the least injured family member, according to the television station.
The Rios family attempted to evacuate the area when tornado warnings were posted, but returned when hail began falling, Vanessa Rio’s brother, Stephen Perez, told“ remembers waking up, rolling over on her side, and seeing her daughter in a tree and she can’t get up or do anything,” Perez told the television station. “She just rolled over and cried.”
Twenty-three people were injured and 12 were hospitalized, Bell County Judge David Blackburn told the television station. The National Weather Service confirmed Wednesday that the EF-3 tornado had winds up to 165 mph,
