Austin-based designer Katie Kime says when adding a region to her ever-expanding toile collection, she chooses"cities where people are obsessed with their city."
Rich in detail, the modern-day, hand-illustrated designs are vibrant in shades of apricot, magenta, bubble gum pink and turquoise, in patterns representing Austin , New Orleans New York City, Charleston, Nashville and beyond. After debuting the Houston collection at a luncheon at Tiny Boxwoods attended by local influencers, the design quickly became her company's second bestseller, after her Marfa toile.
Customers use the colorful wallpaper in mud rooms, laundry rooms and powder rooms, Kime says, where they feel they can"be a little more daring,"
