Jimbo Fisher expects CB Jaylon Jones, DL McKinnley Jackson to return this week but unsure...
COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher said Monday he’s not sure when center Bryce Foster will return to the Aggies’ lineup, while cornerback Jaylon Jones and defensive lineman McKinnley Jackson should be back practicing on Monday.
In addition, tight end Max Wright is questionable, Fisher said, in terms of his return for Week 2. All four players missed No. 6 A&M’s 31-0 victory over Sam Houston in this past Saturday’s season opener at Kyle Field. The Aggies’ schedule stiffens from here, with Appalachian State visiting Kyle at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The Mountaineers lost at home to North Carolina 63-61 this past Saturday while scoring 40 points in the fourth quarter during a wild comeback.
Matthew Wykoff started in place of Foster, a freshman All-American last year who’s been out with an undisclosed injury or illness. When Foster returns, he might take over at center or potentially could shift to guard, where the Aggies need help opposite Layden Robinson, who also played with a minor injury in the Sam Houston game.
A&M will need to get its run game rolling in a hurry after averaging 3.4 yards per carry against the Bearkats. New featured running back Devon Achane averaged 2.3 ypc .
