A recent study by iSeeCars reveals that Tesla, despite its advanced safety features, has the highest fatal accident rate among car brands in the US. The study analyzed fatality data from 2018-2022 and found that Tesla's fatal accident rate is 5.6 cars per billion vehicle miles, significantly higher than the overall average of 2.8. Two Tesla models, the Model Y and Model S, also made the list of most dangerous car models.
A recent study about vehicle road safety by iSeeCars, a US-based car search engine website, revealed a rather surprising result regarding the most dangerous car brands in the country.
For the most dangerous car brands, the study found that Tesla has the highest fatal accident rate of any brand in the US, recording a fatal accident rate of 5.6 .The second most dangerous car brand in the US is Kia , followed by Buick , Dodge and Hyundai . For context, the overall average in the fatal accident rate for all cars is 2.8.Moreover, two Tesla models also made it into the most dangerous car models list despite Tesla’s advanced driver-assist technology.
Meanwhile, the Tesla Model S is the 21st most dangerous car model in the US, with a 5.8 fatal accident rate , 2 times higher than the average in the country.
