Terengganu Health Dept cautions spike in malaria cases

Terengganu has seen a twofold spike in malaria cases between January and April this year, compared to the same period in 2022. – AFP pic, April 5, 2023.

This was after 17 malaria cases were reported between January and April this year, compared to eight cases in the corresponding period last year. “We found a significant increase of 112.5% this year compared to last year, and the Hulu Terengganu district recorded the highest number, with nine cases. Kasemani advised the public to immediately seek treatment at a nearby clinic or hospital if they experience symptoms of malaria such as fever, chills, sweating and tiredness.
