Tenom: Tenom Upko Division has set its sights on the Melalap State Constituency in the upcoming 17th Sabah State election.

According to Division Head Junik Bajit, the party led by Upko President Datuk Ewon Benedick is keen to contest the Melalap seat, as the party is now part of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah -PH plus coalition.“It is, therefore, not wrong for us to lobby to contest in the Melalap seat in the upcoming state election,” Junik said during a ceremony held recently in Kg Karangan Baru, located about 14km from Tenom.

Junik acknowledged, however, that the final decision on seat allocations would be up to the discussions between GRS and PH leaders when the time comes. “We will respect whatever is decided through those negotiations,” he said.
