SERDANG: A temple priest, a bridegroom and the chairman of the temple committee all had to pay the RM1,000 compound for holding a wedding at a Hindu temple in Sri Kembangan during the conditional movement control order (MCO) period.

"We received instructions to issue the compound after we completed our investigations," said Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Ismadi Borhan.

The video is believed to have been recorded by a 41-year-old man who noticed the crowd at the temple on his way to work and later alerted the police. The government has now allowed for non-Muslim houses of worship to reopen starting June 10, but marriage ceremonies would still have to be put on hold until further notice as part of efforts to curb Covid-19.
