The prime minister says the new CEO has been appointed but yet to be announced.
PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad today confirmed that a new CEO for Telekom Malaysia has been appointed. This comes after an alleged stalemate over the appointment.
However, Mahathir declined to name the person, stating only that it will not be acting CEO Imri Mokhtar. “He has been appointed. They have not announced yet, but I think he has been appointed,” he said at his Raya open house at his Seri Perdana residence here. According to The Edge, it was alleged that TM chairman Rosli Man had refused to proceed with the appointment of acting CEO Imri as its CEO.
Rosli was further quoted as stating that he had received a request from the Prime Minister’s Office to defer the appointment of the group’s CEO.Since June last year, Telekom has been without a permanent CEO after Mohammed Shazalli Ramly, who was also a media adviser for former prime minister Najib Razak, resigned.MoF Inc has a special share which gives it power to make certain decisions.
