Charges have been laid against two teenagers on the same day new youth justice laws are debated in state parliament.
Two teenagers have been charged in relation to an incident in which two police cars were rammed with allegedly stolen vehicles in Townsville.A 16-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl were charged with a string of offences
A police officer was taken to hospital after police cars were "actively targeted" and sideswiped by three stolen cars in the Townsville suburb of Vincent in the early hours of March 6. After a five-day search, police arrested two teenagers they allege were inside one of the three stolen cars. A 14-year-old girl was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and has appeared in Townsville Childrens Court.Police say the vehicles were repeatedly sideswiped.The charges came as Queensland Parliament was expected to begin debating the state government's proposed youth justice law reforms.
