A 2022 reform granted both parents equal amounts of leave for the first time: 160 days each of paid leave, to be used before the child turns two years old.

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police have arrested a 17-year-old girl for allegedly torching a car parked inside the car porch of a house at Taman Damai Jaya, Skudai .“The car owner, a 39-year-old local man, was at home on Nov 27, at 3am when he realised his car was on fire," he said in a statement.

ACP Kumarasan said police also seized a note threatening the owner, saying “Owe money pay today is a warning and if you don’t reply I will come burn’’ with a Singapore mobile number. He said other items seized from the suspect were a black marker pen, a glass bottle, a can of petrol, a navy-blue car and a mobile phone.

“Initial investigation showed that the suspect was hired by an illegal money lender to criminally intimidate the borrower for failing to settle his debts," said ACP Kumarasan. The case is being investigated under Section 435 and Section 507 of the Penal Code.ACP Kumarasan called on those with information on crime-related activities or cases to go to the nearest police station or contact the Iskandar Puteri police district contingent headquarters at 07-511 3622 or the hotline at 07-511 4486.
