MELAKA: A teenager allegedly abused by his father is currently undergoing psychiatric counselling at Melaka Hospital, says State Health and Anti-Drug Committee chairman Low Chee Leong.

He said the 16-year-old is coping well with the medical procedures at the hospital and his case was currently being closely monitored by the state Welfare Department.“His case is a pitiful one as he went through the alleged abuse for close to eight years,” he said when interviewed here Monday .“I have also spoken to one of the family members, and his siblings have been giving moral support to their youngest brother to cope with his ordeal,” he said.

Asked about the whereabouts of his father, Low said the man had fled after the police report had been lodged. The teenager lodged a report at the Tiang Dua police station last week alleging his father had sodomised him since he was nine years old.The father also supposedly threatened the teenager with a sharp object if the latter attempted to share his ordeal with anyone.
