TechnologyOne is offering TAFE NSW a fixed priced contract of $145m to abandon its long-running Oracle project.
will take the unconventional step of lodging an unsolicited proposal to TAFE NSW, offering a fixed price contract to replace a long-running upgrade of its student management system.
The proposal also includes an offer to run a free 12-month pilot of the software within one of the TAFE’s departments. Stephen Brady, TAFE NSW’s managing director, blamed the delays on a tight skills market for technology professionals, and the need to widen the scope of the project to integrate more systems such as curriculum management and facilities scheduling into one platform.
Mr MacDonald is sceptical that TAFE’s plan to replace its Tribal system with an Oracle-based system would be able to meet the requirements of the federal government’s new fee-free TAFE program.
