Kota Kinabalu: A father and son were charged with submitting fake document related to the sale of gold ingots from the mining of the precious mineral in Bukit Mantri, Tawau between 2019 and this year, which caused a loss of more than RM1.3 million to the Sabah Government.

The former Chief Executive Officer of Wullersdorf Resources Sdn Bhd, Datuk Lo Fui Ming and his son, Lo Teck Yong, who was also a former director of the company, pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Jason Juga, to 24 charges against them, respectively, Wednesday. The charges stated that they allegedly submitted the fake documents by cheating the State Government through the Land and Surveys Department for declaring incomplete items sold in their gold mining project.

The charges also stated that they allegedly sold gold bars illegally to another company and did not include these sales in their invoice and report to the State Government in which they were supposed to pay a five per cent royalty to the government for the sales of gold mined from Bukit Mantri in Tawau.

They were charged under Section 109 of the Penal Code and read together with Section 418 of the same Code. The court set Dec 8 for next mention and released the duo on bail of RM100,000 in a local surety each as well as their passports, if any, to be impounded by the court pending the disposal of their cases.Deputy Public Prosecutor Lim Wai Keong appeared for the prosecution while counsel Zahir Shah defended the duo.* Follow us on Instagram and join our Telegram and/or WhatsApp channel for the latest news you don't want to miss.
