Kerajaan Mexico mempergiatkan lagi usaha untuk memulihkan bandar Acapulco yang terjejas akibat dilanda taufan Otis.
Langkah itu diambil ketika angka kematian dan bilangan mangsa hilang akibat bencana yang memusnahkan pusat peranginan pantai itu terus meningkat.
“Kami akan memulihkan Acapulco, bermula dengan rakyatnya,” katanya dalam video disiarkan dalam media sosial.Lopez Obrador memaklumkan menteri kewangan dan ekonomi akan turut berada di Acapulco.Mexico sudah menghantar kira-kira 17,000 anggota tentera untuk menjaga ketenteraman dan membantu mengagihkan makanan dan bekalan di Acapulco yang merupakan bandar terbesar di negeri Guerrero.
Taufan Otis yang diklasifikasikan sebagai ribut Kategori Lima membadai Acapulco pada Rabu lalu sehingga menyebabkan rumah, hotel dan premis perniagaan musnah.
