KUALA LUMPUR: A task force comprising local authorities and trader representatives will be formed to ensure that alternative to Ramadan bazaars in Kuala Lumpur will work smoothly.

said he and officers from Kuala Lumpur City Hall would meet with bazaar trader associations on Sunday to iron out details in implementing the three alternative concepts being introduced.

“So, we are working with the traders themselves to figure out what needs to be done as we do not have much time before Ramadan starts,” he said, adding some 3,000 traders are expected to be involved. “As an incentive, each trader will be given RM500 to encourage them to adopt the new move and to subsidise some of the costs to be paid for the e-hailing services.

Annuar added that 66 locations had previously been identified for the Ramadan bazaar in Kuala Lumpur, with other locations, such as school and mosque compounds, serving as alternatives if necessary.
