Ini kerana tarif air di Johor adalah yang tertinggi di Malaysia
Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Perdagangan Antarabangsa, Pelaburan dan Utiliti negeri, Jimmy Puah Wee Tse berkata, ini kerana tarif air di negeri ini adalah yang tertinggi di Malaysia dan tiada keperluan buat kerajaan untuk mengikut jejak enam negeri terbabit.
“Setakat hari ini, kerajaan negeri mengambil pendirian untuk tidak menaikkan tarif air kerana ia baru sahaja dilakukan pada 2015. Tarif air di negeri ini bukanlah rendah maka saya lihat tiada keperluan untuk melakukan sebarang kenaikan dalam masa terdekat. “Saya melihat usaha Kementerian Air, Tanah dan Sumber Asli ini lebih kepada mahu menyeragamkan tarif air di Malaysia. Jadi, buat masa ini kita akan kekalkan taraf air di negeri ini,” katanya kepada pemberita selepas menghadiri Program Interchamber Networking di Sunway Iskandar di sini hari ini.
Semalam, Menteri Air, Tanah dan Sumber Asli, Xavier Jayakumar memberitahu enam negeri bersetuju menaikkan kadar tarif air pada sesi soal jawab lisan di Dewan Rakyat namun tidak menyatakan negeri-negeri terbabit. Katanya, persetujuan itu dicapai hasil rundingan kementerian bersama-sama kerajaan negeri dan Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara yang masih lagi berjalan ketika ini. - UTUSAN ONLINE
