Several Houston-area schools competed at the TAPPS state track and field championships last week at Midway ISD’s Panther Stadium in Hewitt, just outside of Waco.

The Fort Bend Christian was a big winner as both of its teams claimed Class 5A state titles. The girls scored 138 points, beating the field by 56. The boys scored 91 points, edging out Argyle Liberty Christian for the crown. St. Agnes captured the Class 6A girls title with 164 ½ points. That was more than enough to beat out Plano John Paul II . The St. Thomas boys finished as the runners-up with 138 points, falling short of San Antonio Central .

Cypress Christian earned the girls Class 4A title with 118 points, and the Rosehill Christian girls finished as the runners-up in Class 3A with 112.
