PETALING JAYA: Amidst rising disapproval over his appointment as ambassador to Indonesia, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman is keeping it cool, saying he will answer his critics when the time is appropriate.
"I will comment... but wait for the right time. I will inform you when I will fly to Indonesia," the Pasir Salak MP said in a brief text to The Star on Wednesday .
On Tuesday , sources from Wisma Putra confirmed Tajuddin's appointment and said he was expected to begin his duties officially later in May. Tajuddin will be replacing former senior diplomat Zainal Abidin Bakar as the former Malaysian ambassador to Indonesia who had served since 2018. On Nov 9 last year, Tajuddin was spotted accompanying Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on an official trip to Indonesia, fuelling speculation that he would be appointed to the position.
Tajuddin was terminated as the Prasarana Malaysia Bhd chairman on May 26 last year following a disastrous press conference on the LRT mishap on May 24.
