Thursday, 14 May 2026 | 2:23 PM MYTPETALING JAYA: Men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani overcame a scare to march into the Thailand Open quarter-finals after defeating China’s Huang Di-Liu Yang on Thursday .

Sze Fei-Izzuddin started strongly but a lapse in concentration in the second game nearly saw the match dragged into a decider but they won 21-14, 24-22 in 46 minutes at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok. Sze Fei later revealed he had been struggling with dizziness during the match, but still managed to help steer the pair to a win against the world No. 35 pair.

“Sorry, my condition is not good, a bit dizzy,” admitted Sze Fei in a post-match interview with the Badminton World Federation. “We lost a bit of focus, but we’re happy we managed to come back at the end of the second game,” said Izzuddin. Awaiting them in the quarter-finals are Scotland’s Christopher Grimley-Matthew Grimley, who defeated another Malaysian pair, Chia Wei Jie-Teo Ee Yi, 24-26, 21-10, 21-10.

Meanwhile, another Malaysian pair, Bryan Jeremy Goonting-Mohd Haikal Nazri, were outclassed by top seeds Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty of India after going down 12-21, 19-21.
