KUALA LUMPUR: The four Bersatu Members of Parliament(MP) who pledged support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will remain as Perikatan Nasional lawmakers for now despite requesting a seating change in the Dewan Rakyat.
KUALA LUMPUR: Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has stepped down as Malaysian United Democratic Alliance president effective immediately.
This comes after the High Court’s verdict on Thursday , which found the Muar MP guilty of all charges on criminal breach of trust , money laundering and misappropriation of funds.ALSO READ:“I don’t deserve the role anymore. I will clear my name through the court process,” he said in a press conference after a meeting with the party’s leadership on Thursday.
"I owe a duty not just to the public, but to Muda members and the leadership to take a step back," he added. Syed Saddiq said Puteri Wangsa assemblyan Amira Aisya, who is Muda deputy president, would act as the president following the decision made by the party’s leadership.
